Curtis Miller

I found out today that Curtis died yesterday in a motorcycle accident. Most of the Star Riders have known Curtis longer than I have. But for the short time I have known him, (About a Year) I have considered him as a friend.

The last time I rode with him was in Bandera, Texas on the weekend of March 24, 2006.

The first time I met Curtis, I thought he was kinda of cocky and rude. I found that His cockiness was a real gusto for life, I was not wrong about the rudeness.

I will always remember him as a fun loving caring guy. He was always great to be around. My rides will not be the same without him.

I’m deeply saddened and I will miss him.

My heart, my love and my prayers are with him and his family.

Star Rider Wine Run

This was my first ride I planned and lead for the Star Riders. We had about 15 riders and ended up with about 5 riders at the last Winery. We went to 2 winery in South texas near the gulf.

The first Winery was in Santa Fe Texas, Haak Winery. thay set up glasses out in the back and let us taste the wines. I bought 2 bottles one was a port wine and the other was a sweet white.

We made our way to Kemah and had lunch at T-Bone Tom's. I had the Tom’s special. This is a great place to eat!

We headed up north on Highway 146 to Baytown and stop at Pelican Junction to meet up with a few of the other Star Riders and see the B.A.C.A. Rally. We stayed for only a few miniutes.

We headed over the Galveston bay through Anahuac to the Frascone Winery in Oak Island. My favorite wine there was made from blueberries. I bought 2 bottles. The owner gave us a great tour of his small Winery.

It was a great day to be out and about on my motorcycle.

The Blue Bonnet Trail

Headed out to La Grange Texas from Schulenburg, to Round Top for lunch and then up and around Brenham and back to Schulenburg. There should be Blue Bonnets through out the whole trip.

Well, It was hard to find the Blue Bonnets, but they were out there. The best place we found them was on Hwy 36 and Hwy 290 near Brenham. The Blue Bonnets were not as good as last years, hopefully it will be better next years.

We did not get to have lunch in Round Top, everything was closed so we had lunch in Brenham.

The weather was great for riding!

River City Bike Fest

I ran over to San Antonio this weekend for the River City Bike Fest and to visit an old friend.

The visit with my friend (Laurie Hall) was great. The River City Bike Fest was kinda lame. It was not worth traveling a couple hundred miles for, but the time spent with Laurie was well worth it and the route I choose back to Houston to see some of the Bluebonnets was great.

I may go back out to the Bellville area and see more of the Bluebonnets this Easter Sunday.

By the way, The weather was great for riding. Get out there and ride!

More of This Years Big Road Trip

Got more planning done. Check out the FM DevCon Orlando Florida 2006 web page for more detail and planned route. I will be going through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and to Florida to the FM conference. I will be visiting some other Royal Star Venture riders near the Tail of the Dragon at Vogel State Park in Georgia for two days before I continue on to the conference.

After the FM DevCon I plan to spend a couple of days at Disney World, Then I will go up to Daytona beach. After Daytona I’ll drive along the gulf coast back to Texas.

Anybody have any suggestion, please email at the link on the bottom of this page.

See ya on the road! Rex

Ridin' For The Rose

Ridin’ For The Rose is a charity ride benefiting the Memorial Children's Hospital and Brain Cancer Research at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

We started at Reliant Park at 11 AM and head to the City of Damon, Texas with a police escort. We arrived in Damon about hour later. There was beer and food with over 300 bikes. It was pretty neat that they closed the roads all the way to Damon just for the bikers.

Afterwards some of the Star Riders and I went to the Angleton Ice house. It was a great day for riding!
