Big Bend Day 2

We had breakfast at the hotel and headed out of town East on Highway 90 around 9 AM.

We stop at the Seminole Canyon
State Park, the Canyon is worth seeing and one of the days I'll come out here to take the tour of the cave. While I was here I renewed my state park pass.

We went down highway 90 a few of mile east of Seminole Canyon State Park and stopped to see the Tallest bridge In Texas, The Pecos River High Bridge 273 feet above the river.

We continued east on highway 90, we stopped in Sanderson, TX for fuel and lunch at the local Dairy King. Had a great burger from the Dairy King.

After lunch we hopped back on Highway 90, when we arrived in Marathon, TX we refueled and headed South on highway 385 to Big Bend National Park.

We stopped at the Persimmon Gap Visitors Center to register for entry with my National Park Pass and to get my National Park Passport Stamped. Sherri & Jessica shopped for some souvenirs. We continued South and stopped at the Park Headquarters/Visitors Center for some fuel and more shopping.

We hopped back on highway 385 headed east and turned South on Basin Junctio Road (Great Road, Do Not Miss!) to the Chisos Basin Area. At the Chisos Basin Area we were at an evelation of 5400 ft and a little cooler.

After a little break, we headed back down the Basin Junctio Road and turned right (East) on highway 385 to the parks exits on highway 118 and headed north to Alpine, TX.

We arrived at our hotel the Highland Inn around 8:30 PM. After checking in, it was time for dinner, we cleaned up a little and headed over to the Longhorn Steakhouse for a great meal. Be sure to eat here when visiting Alpine, TX.

What a long great day and a great ride!
